Midwest's largest producers of packaging materials (folding cartons, labels and literature) is seeking qualified Offset Press Operators for its Evansville, Indiana production facility.
Job Duties: Carry out accurately and precisely detailed instructions from job tickets Set up/adjust press for job runs to meet specifications Monitor product for quality during job runs. Check precision of detail against specifications. Take action to correct any problems. Troubleshoot and correct most press operating problems incurred during normal press operation Produce at optimum speed Ensure the highest quality product Minimize raw material waste Perform routine press maintenance, upkeep and cleaning. Submit work orders for press maintenance or repair as necessary Complete accurately all related logs and paperwork Adhere to all safety guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively Operational knowledge of multi-color sheet-fed offset presses with tower coaters willing to be trained to run the Man-Roland 700 Shop math skills including fractions, percentages and precise measurements
Ability to understand and apply detailed instructions, completing detail work precisely Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance and quality standards Knowledge of paper stocks, inks (UV experience preferred) and related materials/techniques used in the printing industry Ability to meet physical demands of job including the ability to stand for extended periods of time; climb stairs; use of hands/dexterity; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift, carry, push and pull. Close and distant vision, accurate color perception, and peripheral vision are critical Demonstrated ability to understand and follow safety standards Demonstrated record of consistently good attendance/punctuality Ability to direct crew and keep management team informed Able to remove and mount printing plates and blankets; change, set/adjust ink and water rollers; pre-set and set ink fountain for color; set ink and water balance.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: A minimum of three years experience as the lead operator on multi-color sheet-fed offset presses is required, preferably in the packaging industry.
